The Level 1 clinic is designed for riders who want to learn the fundamentals of off-road riding and tackle terrain with confidence.
Learn about body position, control in low traction, what all the features of your bike can do when riding off-road, and how to set yourself up for success.
The Level 2 Clinic builds on the Level 1, and starts to cover intermediate topics in more detail. The level 2 lessons can vary depending on the riders’ abilities, individual needs, weather, and other factors. That said, you can expect it to cover material along the lines of hill climbing & descent, taking advantage of low traction, off-camber control, and potentially other topics!
We’re happy to teach all brands of motorcycles. The class is primarily focused on big ADV bikes like the R1250GS, but we’ve had riders train on everything from small ADVs like the KTM 390 all the way up to big Scrambler style bikes like the Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE.
If it has 2 wheels and will go off-road, you’re welcome to ride!
You’re welcome to sign up for both days if you like – but know that you’ll probably be tired by the end of Sunday if you do!
Knobbies are welcome, but certainly NOT required. If your tires are described by their manufacturer as dual-sport, adventure, 80/20, or some similar verbiage, you’ll be fine. We’re looking for good traction in dirt and grass, not trying to set a hill-climb world record.
Our clinics are designed to teach people who already know the basics of motorcycle riding. Off-road experience is NOT required (that’s why you’re attending!) but you should be generally comfortable riding and operating your motorcycle. If you’re brand new to motorcycling, give us a call about how to get started and you can play in the mud with us next year!
The Level 2 Clinic is made to build on the skills we cover in the Level 1 class. If you’ve completed one of our Level 1 or Beginner Adventure Clinics in the past, you’ll be prepared. If you haven’t taken our Level 1 Clinic, the most effective way to figure out which class is right for you is to give us a call at 571.934.4450 and ask to talk with Josh. We can talk about what you want to learn, and decide which (if any!) of our classes is right for you.
We plan this event late in the season so you can comfortably wear all your armor. You must at least have a DOT approved helmet, gloves, a shirt, long pants, and closed-toed shoes. Having a full set of gear is strongly encouraged.
It’s about 35 minutes west of Motorcycles of Dulles. The event is being held on private property, and we don’t want to send our host’s address to thousands of people. Everyone who registers for the clinic will receive an email with the exact address and other important information at least 1 week before the event!
No. Our instructors are touring the country teaching these classes and we can’t guarantee a rain date. If conditions are unsafe, we’ll cancel the clinic and offer credit toward our next Adventure Clinic. Note: These are adventure bikes! We won’t be canceling for a light sprinkle or a gentle breeze.
You’re welcome to give us a call and refund your ticket for any reason until 10 days before the first clinic. Anything past that point will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
For many reasons both legal and logistical, we can’t supply a bike for you to ride at the clinic. If you want to buy a bike and ride it at the clinic we can certainly help you pick one out.
